The leading international gathering for the audiovisual industry in Spanish and Portuguese grows by 20% in accredited professionals and reaches its highest international representation since its first edition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iberseries & Platino Industria 2026<\/strong> officially inaugurated its sixth edition yesterday at Madrid\u2019s Teatros del Canal, marking the start of a new edition of the leading international meeting point for professionals in the audiovisual industry in Spanish and Portuguese. The event will take place<\/strong> from today until October 2<\/strong> at Matadero Madrid<\/strong>, promoted by EGEDA<\/strong> and Fundaci\u00f3n Secuoya<\/strong>, in collaboration with FIPCA<\/strong>, with the sponsorship of Madrid Film Office<\/strong> and Film Madrid Region<\/strong>, and the support of the Ministry of Culture<\/strong>, Madrid Audiovisual Cluster<\/strong>, Spain Film Commission<\/strong> and ICEX Spain Trade and Investment<\/strong>, among other organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inauguration was attended by Isabel D\u00edaz Ayuso, President of the Community of Madrid; Jos\u00e9 Luis Mart\u00ednez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid; Enrique Cerezo, President of EGEDA, the Platino Awards and Platino Industria; Ra\u00fal Berdon\u00e9s, President of Fundaci\u00f3n Secuoya; Carmen P\u00e1ez, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Spain; Ignacio Rey, President of FIPCA; Mar\u00eda Coronado, Audiovisual Director at the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT); and Elisa Carbonell, CEO of ICEX<\/strong>, at an event presented by journalist Yolanda Flores<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enrique Cerezo<\/strong> opened the institutional speeches by celebrating the fact that this sixth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria is being held in Madrid, a region and a city that is one of the major international centers for audiovisual creation and production. \u201cCinema has been one of the great instruments for building a human space,\u201d<\/em> he said, emphasizing that \u201cnever before had so much content been produced or so many screens existed, never had it been so easy to bring a story from any city in Ibero-America to anywhere on the planet, and our challenge is to ensure that, in that enormous global market, our stories have the presence they deserve\u201d.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mayor of Madrid<\/strong>, Jos\u00e9 Luis Mart\u00ednez-Almeida<\/strong>, then stressed that, \u201cfor the city of Madrid, cinema and the audiovisual industry in Ibero-America are strategic priorities that we want to support, to which we are committed, and we do so through various initiatives\u201d<\/em>, while also highlighting that Iberseries & Platino Industria is a success story: \u201cand we believe, above all, that the cultural vocation that unites the entire Ibero-American community should be strengthened, the ties should be brought even closer, and there is no closer way of doing so than precisely through cinema and series\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ra\u00fal Berdon\u00e9s<\/strong> highlighted that one of the great strengths of Iberseries & Platino Industria \u201cis that we have managed to address all the needs of the industry, to work for everyone and on everything, but from Madrid\u2019s audiovisual ecosystem\u201d<\/em>, achieving an increasingly larger turnout. He therefore noted how attractive it is to see the United States, Asia, Europe and Latin America represented at this gathering today, \u201cbecause co-productions know no boundaries and, above all, know no languages or signs\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Undersecretary of Culture Carmen P\u00e1ez<\/strong> stressed that although it is true that culture knows no borders, it does need to find meeting spaces where we can discuss the moment we are in and the private initiatives and public policies that we need to develop in order to continue strengthening our audiovisual ecosystem. \u201cThis is a time of profound change in the audiovisual industry; over the last 20 years, new audiences, new windows, new technologies such as artificial intelligence and new audiences have begun to emerge in our ecosystem, and it is essential to take into account the position of all the players in our value chain,\u201d<\/em> she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the institutional closing of the inauguration ceremony of the sixth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria, Ignacio Rey<\/strong>, Mar\u00eda Coronado<\/strong> and Elisa Carbonell<\/strong>, CEO of ICEX<\/strong>, took part in a conversation on strengthening the audiovisual industry, its internationalization and the main challenges facing the sector. Mar\u00eda Coronado spoke of the \u201cconsolidation of the good cruising speed the audiovisual industry is reaching\u201d<\/em> and recalled that \u201cit is a puzzle made up of many pieces, many of them essential, and they have to come together in a perfect, ideal balance\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elisa Carbonell<\/strong> stated that \u201cthe future competitiveness of the audiovisual sector will depend on our ability to continue advancing from the internationalization of our content to that of our companies and our industry; a strong industry is not only one that knows how to export successes, which we are certainly doing very successfully, but also one that builds companies capable of truly competing and growing\u201d<\/em>, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ignacio Rey<\/strong> pointed out that \u201cbasically, in order to continue consolidating, we have to keep training professionals and companies, developing entrepreneurs, and seeking to create content that crosses our borders\u201d<\/em>, placing particular emphasis on \u201cthe distribution and visibility of our works, since we are living through a spectacular moment in terms of production throughout Europe and America, and our content is crossing common borders, but this reality only reaches a part of productions; this is the great challenge we face\u201d<\/em>, he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, Isabel D\u00edaz Ayuso<\/strong>, President of the Community of Madrid<\/strong>, spoke and stressed that during these days Madrid is once again becoming the undisputed audiovisual capital of Europe and Ibero-America, \u201cand we should celebrate it, because we are part of a great cultural and economic power made up of more than 800 million people who speak Spanish and Portuguese, with an ever-growing ability for their stories to travel around the world; we share words, songs, readings, ways of celebrating and understanding life\u201d.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added that \u201cthis network of bonds makes us greater, universal, and also when we sit down to write a script or produce a film. In Madrid, what we want is for Ibero-American creators to find partners, work, audiences and everything they need, but, above all, most importantly, to feel at home\u201d.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the inaugural event, Iberseries & Platino Industria is holding four days dedicated to activity, professional exchange and the generation of business opportunities for the Ibero-American and international audiovisual sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A start that consolidates the event\u2019s growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sixth edition begins with more than 2,800 accredited professionals<\/strong>, representing a 20% increase<\/strong> over the start of the 2025 edition. The event also brings together around 1,500 participating companies<\/strong>, 15% more than last year, when growth of 30% compared with previous editions had already been recorded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the main indicators of the evolution of Iberseries & Platino Industria is its growing international dimension<\/strong>. This edition has representation from 54 countries<\/strong>, the highest figure reached in any of its editions and more than double that of its first edition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

47% of accredited professionals come from outside Spain<\/strong>, compared with 53% national participation. Among the main countries of origin are, in this order, Mexico, Argentina, the United States, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Portugal, France, Brazil, Italy, Uruguay, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom<\/strong>, in addition to Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mexico will be the Country in Focus of this sixth edition<\/strong>, with a cross-cutting presence that will bring together production, talent, incentives, technical services, infrastructure, post-production and new business opportunities. With more than 150 accredited professionals<\/strong>, Mexico is the second country with the highest participation in the event, behind Spain only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This internationalization is also reflected in the growing presence of professionals from territories outside the Ibero-American sphere, with increased participation from European countries<\/strong> and markets such as T\u00fcrkiye, China, India and Korea<\/strong>, among others, progressively expanding the event\u2019s connection with new territories and audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evolution of professional participation also means that the number of accredited professionals has more than doubled compared with the first edition<\/strong>, consolidating the upward trajectory of Iberseries & Platino Industria and its ambition to become a platform connecting the Ibero-American audiovisual industry with the international market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 120 activities and 230 speakers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the four days of activity, more than 120 activities<\/strong> will take place, including more than 50 panels<\/strong>, high-level conferences and professional meetings addressing the main trends, opportunities and challenges facing the audiovisual industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program includes established spaces such as the Co-Production and Financing Forum<\/strong>, Platform and Production Company Pitch<\/strong> sessions and the Showrunner Workshop<\/strong>, alongside new specialized training initiatives such as \u201cThinking Like a Producer: Creative Business Strategy\u201d<\/strong>, the Practical Legal & Business Affairs Workshop for Producers and Creators<\/strong>, and the Artificial Intelligence Workshop for Creators: Enhancing Audiovisual Storytelling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These initiatives are joined by new spaces designed to foster talent and project development, such as the Euro Atlantic Series Co-Pro Pitch<\/strong>, the Literary Works for Audiovisual Adaptation Pitch<\/strong>, the Professional Meeting with Fundaci\u00f3n SGAE<\/strong> and the first edition of the RECREAS call<\/strong>, promoted by DAMA<\/strong>, among other activities aimed at supporting the creation, development, financing and international circulation of content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 230 speakers, professionals and leading figures from audiovisual production, creation, distribution, exhibition and financing, as well as representatives of platforms, broadcasters, studios, organizations and institutions, will take part in the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twenty-four Iberscreenings will be held for international buyers and focused on screenings, previews and exclusive premieres through the event\u2019s different formats: Cap\u00edtulo UNO, Pr\u00f3ximamente, Showcase, Segunda Ventana, Premier Cine and Funci\u00f3n de Gala<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iberseries & Platino Industria will welcome 200 international buyers<\/strong> (including 50 commissioners) from Europe, America and Asia<\/strong>, 11% more than in 2025<\/strong>, reinforcing its role as a space connecting the supply of Ibero-American content with international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A space to drive new projects and business opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Promoting the creation and development of new content will be another of the key pillars of this edition. The event\u2019s various calls have received more than 1,000 projects<\/strong>, of which 168 have been selected<\/strong> to take part in the different professional initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will also bring together 30 exhibitors<\/strong> representing more than 100 companies<\/strong>, distributed across 18 stands<\/strong>: ProColombia, Argentina Audiovisual, Imagina, Air Media 360, India, Asociaci\u00f3n de Productores de Cine y Televisi\u00f3n de Chile, EGEDA Per\u00fa, Asociaci\u00f3n de las Industrias Iberoam\u00e9rica-China (AIIC), Andersen, Crea SGR, ECAM, Almarae, SEGO Finance, Platino Empleo, Ibermedia, Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de Produtores Independentes de Televis\u00e3o (APIT), WAWA and Asociaci\u00f3n de Productores de Espa\u00f1a (AECINE, AGAPI, ANCINE, AVANT, EPE IBAIA and PATE<\/em>, at the International Audiovisual Market (MAI), and 12 pavilions<\/strong> at Plaza Matadero<\/strong>, the highest number to date<\/strong>: EGEDA, Secuoya Studios, Movistar Plus, Atresmedia, Inter Medya, RTVE, Mexico, Italian Pavilion, Spain Film Commission & Iberofic, OM-MA, Madrid Audiovisual Cluster and Madrid Film Office.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are joined by more than 180 accredited journalists<\/strong>, who will cover the activity of an event that has established itself as a showcase for Ibero-American audiovisual production and a forum for analyzing the evolution of the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
