Sustainable Measures
Iberseries & Platino Industria is the leading international event for the Ibero-American audiovisual industry and serves as a bridge between cultures and business models on both sides of the Atlantic. In our mission to bring together the industry’s leading professionals and foster international co-production, we are fully aware of the environmental impact involved in hosting such a major event. Therefore, the following actions are being implemented to ensure its sustainable development.
Sustainability Actions
The Iberseries & Platino Industria team has once again worked in collaboration with Mrs. Greenfilm, a leading environmental consultancy company that has provided support throughout the event production process through a sustainability plan comprising the following phases:
Reduction of Single-Use Plastics
In order to reduce single-use plastic waste, aluminum bottles were provided to attendees during the event. Likewise, water fountains were installed and glass cups and water jugs were made available during the sessions.
Fair and Sustainable Trade
Attendees received a reusable fabric bag certified as Cotton Fairtrade. This certification guarantees that the social and economic conditions of cotton farmers have been fair and that the cotton is organic and has not been treated with agrochemicals. In addition, the event badges were produced using recyclable materials in order to meet sustainability standards.
Selective Waste Collection
Attendees had access to recycling bins located at several strategic points to encourage proper waste management
Circular Economy
The reuse of materials and furniture from the previous edition was encouraged, and for any new elements required, priority was given to renting them or establishing agreements with sponsors and brands for their temporary use.
What Can You Do?
Attendees play a crucial role in reducing environmental impact and helping make Iberseries & Platino Industria a greener event. Together, we can help minimize our impact on the environment through these simple practices:
Choosing Matadero as the event venue encourages the use of public transportation, as well as walking or cycling, since the location is very well connected:
Metro: Legazpi (Lines 3 and 6). The eastern section of Line 6 is currently under construction; please check available stations before traveling.
EMT Buses: Plaza de Legazpi (8, 19, 45, 47, 59, 62, 76, 85, 86, SE6). Casa del Reloj (6, 18, 78, 148).
Casa del Reloj (6, 18, 78, 148).
Cercanías Train: Embajadores (the closest station, 1.3 kilometers away) and Pirámides.
Bicimad (free service until December 31).
Please use the drinking water fountains available throughout the venue to refill your aluminum bottle. Plastic bottles are one of the main sources of pollution, as they are estimated to take between 100 and 1,000 years to decompose. Many are not properly recycled and end up in landfills, rivers, and oceans, causing serious harm to the planet and its ecosystems. By using water fountains and reusable bottles, you reduce the amount of plastic introduced into the environment, thus contributing to the preservation and care of our planet.
Please remember to separate waste into the different recycling bins available throughout the venue. This practice allows materials to be reused, preventing the overexploitation of natural resources. It also reduces the accumulation of waste in landfills, decreasing soil and water pollution as well as greenhouse gas emissions.
Matadero is located next to Madrid Río, a recreational and cultural area running alongside the Manzanares River that serves as a refuge for local biodiversity. To enjoy this space responsibly, it is important to take care of trees, plants, and all landscaped areas.
