The Platino Educa Conferences are sessions designed to discuss and explore the contribution of film as an educational tool in teaching, audiovisual literacy, and values education. They are open to all audiences, but are primarily aimed at teachers and educators at all levels of education, as well as vocational education and training (VET) teachers.

PROGRAM: EDUCA Platinum Meetings

1. Encuentros Platino EDUCA (EGEDA) and Cátedra Nebrija (CIMUED) present: An In-Depth Look at Women’s Participation in the Colombian Audiovisual Industry: Actions for Change and Equal Opportunities

The Chair in Film, Women and Education (CIMUED) at Nebrija University, EGEDA and Platino Educa promotes an equitable audiovisual industry, with opportunities for women across all areas of the sector.
Taking an Ibero-American perspective, this event examines the situation in Colombia, a growing market where women account for 30.1%* of industry representation. Although female participation is increasing, this figure remains well below those of Spain and Mexico, where women represent 38% and 39.5%, respectively.
The event examines each professional role to identify the areas where equality policies need to be implemented more decisively. It will also feature the testimony of Liliana Bocanegra.

The results of a study on the Colombian audiovisual industry, conducted by a research consortium comprising Nebrija University (Madrid, Spain), Universidad del Norte (Barranquilla, Colombia), and Universidad de La Sabana (Bogotá, Colombia), will be presented.

2. EDUCA Platinum Meetings (EGEDA). Film Adaptations of Great Works of Spanish-Language Literature

The roundtable discussion will seek to analyze, discuss, and provide historical context for the various film and television adaptations of major works of Ibero-American literature. This represents an impressive body of work, from both a literary and a cinematic perspective. And therein lies the reason for and purpose of this gathering. Since we are dealing with literature and cinema in Spanish. In that “territory of La Mancha”—a reference to Cervantes—there are nearly six hundred million people, as defined by the Mexican writer and Cervantes Prize laureate Carlos Fuentes.
