Under the leadership of Luis Fernández, Telemundo has established itself as the leading Spanish-language network through an ambitious multiplatform strategy that combines the power of live programming and sports—such as the FIFA World Cup—with innovation in scripted content and microdramas to attract and retain younger audiences.

In this keynote, Fernández will share his perspective as a journalist and examine the key challenges facing the industry, drawing on the lessons learned throughout an outstanding international career. His experience includes serving as Executive President of RTVE, International Executive Director for the Asia-Pacific region at Real Madrid, and News Director at some of Spain’s leading media organizations, including Canal+, Telecinco, Cadena SER, Radio EL PAÍS and Cadena COPE. In the United States, he has held senior leadership positions as Executive Vice President of Telemundo Network News, President of Univision Studios, and President of Entertainment at Univision Communications. His strategy is built on investing in culturally relevant content that drives growth across both linear television and streaming platforms. No other Spaniard has reached such a senior leadership position within the U.S. media industry.

As Chairman, Luis Fernández oversees the company’s rapidly growing multiplatform portfolio, including Telemundo’s flagship broadcast network and its entertainment, sports, and news programming units, its digital and streaming platforms, and the Universo cable network. NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises serves U.S. Hispanics through its national television network, the Universo cable network, and digital platforms that include the Telemundo app, a suite of FAST channels, and streaming services such as Peacock, among others. The network offers entertainment, news, and sports in Spanish, reaching 96% of Hispanic households in the U.S. across 210 markets through 30 company-owned stations, 95 affiliate stations, and one independent station in Puerto Rico. Through Telemundo Studios, the network produces original content for global audiences.
