Fran Llorente (55, Madrid) holds a degree in journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has spent virtually his entire professional career at RTVE, holding various leadership positions, including head of TVE News (2004–2012). He was subsequently appointed Director of Corporate Projects and Strategies and Director of RTVE Play, RTVE’s new digital platform, which he has spearheaded in 2021.

During her tenure as head of TVE’s News Services—a period unanimously recognized as the golden age of public television—the Telediarios news programs garnered widespread international and national acclaim, winning more than 200 awards, including numerous Television Academy Awards, the 2011 National Television Award, and the Ondas Award, both in recognition of the network’s news services.

Between 2007 and 2009, Fran Llorente hosted the program *Tengo una pregunta para Usted*, which also won an Ondas Award—an honor that was also bestowed twice upon *La 2 Noticias*, one of the most groundbreaking and innovative news programs, which he created and directed for 10 years and occasionally co-hosted with Lorenzo Milá.

After a long career in news, he moved to TVE’s new formats division, where he created and co-directed—alongside Santiago Tabernero—*Torres y Reyes* and *Alaska y Coronas*, and launched innovative new projects such as the virtual reality episode of *El Ministerio del Tiempo*.

Over the past three years, he has driven the growth of RTVE Digital, the youth-oriented digital channel Playz, and the RTVE Lab, which during this time have been recognized with nearly fifty national and international awards, including two King of Spain Journalism Awards and three Ondas Awards.

On a personal level, he has received awards such as the Javier Bueno Award from the Madrid Press Association and the Vázquez Montalbán Award, presented by the Catalan Association of Journalists “as a model of quality, independence, and professionalism in the field of television news.”
