The Clearance Process in an Audiovisual Production. A Practical Legal & Business Affairs Workshop for Producers and Creators will provide participants with the tools to prevent legal risks in the production and exploitation of audiovisual works.
Iberseries & Platino Industria, the leading international event for the Ibero-American audiovisual industry, has opened the call for applications for The Clearance Process in an Audiovisual Production. A Practical Legal & Business Affairs Workshop for Producers and Creators, a training initiative aimed at audiovisual producers, legal affairs professionals working in production, creators and distributors interested in gaining an in-depth understanding of clearance processes and their importance in the development and exploitation of audiovisual projects.
The workshop, which will be held exclusively in person, will take place at Matadero Madrid as part of the sixth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria. The organization will select a maximum of forty participants from among all applications received.
This is the third workshop that the event has dedicated to legal tools for professional audiovisual production, with the aim of providing participants with the knowledge and practical resources needed to identify, assess and mitigate the legal risks associated with the creation, production and exploitation of audiovisual works.
Through a highly practical approach, the workshop will address the key legal aspects involved in audiovisual production, from the management of intellectual and industrial property rights to issues arising from personality rights and the subsequent commercial exploitation of audiovisual works.
The programme will feature leading specialists from the legal and audiovisual sectors, including Ángela Estévez, lawyer in EGEDA’s Legal Department; Patricia Mariscal Garrido-Falla, Managing Partner of the Intellectual Property Department at Bardají & Honrado Abogados; Alberto Adúriz Sarabia, Senior Associate at the same firm; Pilar Perlado Hergueta, Clearance Coordinator and Co-Director of the ECAM Master’s Degree in Clearance; and Jorge A. Sánchez Sánchez, Legal Director and Business Affairs at LAZONA.
Through theoretical sessions and case studies, The Clearance Process in an Audiovisual Production. A Practical Legal & Business Affairs Workshop for Producers and Creators will explore topics including the legal analysis of a screenplay, the identification of legal contingencies in audiovisual projects, the organization of clearance processes within the production structure, and the strategic value of these procedures in ensuring the commercial viability of an audiovisual work.
The programme will also include a panel discussion on the successful production Mexico 86, featuring Christian Gabela, Senior Vice President & Head of LATAM, Spain and US Hispanic at Gaumont; María José Delgado, VP Physical Production SPLATAM at Gaumont TV; Rafael Rodríguez Andrade, Founding Partner at RR Consulting; and Eduardo de la Parra, Founding Partner at De la Parra & Asociados. The speakers will share the main legal challenges encountered during the development of this production, inspired by the events surrounding the organization of the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
Applications for the workshop will remain open until August 18, 2026. Candidates must submit their applications through the link available in their professional profile once they have completed the event accreditation process. The final selection will take into account applicants’ professional experience and their connection to the areas covered by the workshop.
Iberseries & Platino Industria will hold its sixth edition from September 29 to October 2, 2026, at Matadero Madrid. The event is organized by EGEDA and Fundación Secuoya, in collaboration with FIPCA, and supported by Madrid Film Office and Madrid Film Region, among other partner organizations.
