Francisca is a showrunner, director, and screenwriter on the series “The House of the Spirits,” based on the novel by Isabel Allende and produced by Filmnation and Amazon Studios. Her short film “And the Whole Sky Fitted into the Eye of the Dead Cow” won multiple awards in college and had its world premiere at Telluride; it received the award for Best International Short Film at Sundance (2017) and Best Short Film at the Miami Film Festival (2017), in addition to being screened at various prestigious international film festivals.
Her first feature film, *The Cow That Sang a Song Toward the Future*, premiered at Sundance (2022), toured various international film festivals, and was screened at MoMA (New York) as part of the “Eco Series” program. The film received praise from international critics, establishing Alegría as one of the new female voices in emerging Latin American cinema. She is currently developing a feature film as a screenwriter and director with Quijote Films (Chile), where she will serve as co-producer alongside her company, MADRE CONTENT.
