Madrid Film Office, the audiovisual office of Madrid City Council, will be one of the main sponsors of Iberseries & Platino Industria for its sixth edition, which is taking place from September 29 to October 2 at Matadero Madrid. The leading international gathering for the Ibero-American audiovisual industry is organised by EGEDA and Fundación Secuoya, in collaboration with FIPCA, and is sponsored by Madrid Film Office and Film Madrid Region, among other collaborating entities.
The participation of Madrid Film Office will extend across different areas of the programme, with sessions focusing on the present and future of the audiovisual industry and on Madrid’s role as a hub for creation and production.
Madrid Film Office’s participation
Among the activities is the session “30 Years of the Málaga Film Festival: Málaga Film Festival, 30 Years Supporting Spanish and Ibero-American Cinema”, which will take place today, September 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Plaza Matadero. The talk will feature Raúl Torquemada, director of Madrid Film Office, and Juan Antonio Vigar, director of the Málaga Film Festival. Together, they will review the festival’s evolution since its creation three decades ago, as well as its contribution to promoting Spanish and Ibero-American cinema and developing the audiovisual industry. The city of Madrid will be the guest territory in 2027, the year in which the festival will celebrate its 30th edition.
The programme will then feature “The Madrid Effect: Creativity, Industry and Global Financing”, as part of Focus Territorio, a session that will also take place today, September 29, from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Sala Plató (Cineteca). The session will explore Madrid’s evolution as one of Europe’s major audiovisual hubs, its ability to attract productions and talent, and the current challenges facing the creation, production and financing of projects with international ambitions. Participants will include Manuel Gómez Pereira, film director and screenwriter, and Merche Herranz, Managing Director of LaZona, in a conversation moderated by Raúl Torquemada.
The collaboration with Madrid Film Office will also extend to “Pitch Madrid”, which will take place tomorrow, September 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This session, organised in collaboration with Madrid Film Office, will present projects in development linked to the city of Madrid and supported by Madrid City Council.
Madrid Film Office also sponsors the Showrunner Training Workshop, which is taking place on September 29 and 30 and October 1 at Matadero Madrid. This initiative, coordinated by The Core School with the support of CIMA (Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media), provides specialised training and guidance for emerging talent and Spanish-language series projects, led by audiovisual industry professionals.
A Networking Session – Madrid Film Office Breakfast will also be held, conceived as a meeting space for industry professionals, and the office will co-organise the closing ceremony of Iberseries & Platino Industria.
Throughout the four days of the event, Madrid Film Office will also have a physical presence in the professional activity area of Plaza Matadero, with a container pavilion, from which it will showcase the city’s audiovisual activity and foster connections with industry professionals.
