New edition of the Showrunner Training Workshop

The Showrunner Training Workshop is an initiative consolidated as one of the reference spaces for the promotion of new talents and series projects in Spanish within the Ibero-American audiovisual industry.

The Showrunners Workshop, coordinated by The Core School and with the collaboration of CIMA (Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media), aims to offer specialized training in the creative, executive and management functions of the showrunner, a key figure in the creation and leadership of fiction series.

The training will be held exclusively in person on September 29 and 30 and October 1, 2026 at Matadero Madrid, within the framework of Iberseries & Platino Industria. In addition, the selected projects will receive two online tutoring sessions during the months prior to the face-to-face meeting.

In this sixth edition, the Workshop will have the participation of leading professionals from the audiovisual sector as tutors:

  • Jorge Redondo, executive producer and showrunner, former executive director of Boomerang TV Ficción and producer of titles such as Inés del alma mía, Mar de plástico, Los protegidas and Física o Química.
  • Tatiana Rodríguez, screenwriter and creator nominated for the Goya Award for Mataharis, author of series such as Operación Barrio Inglés, La ley del mar, Camilo Superstar, La cocinera de Castamar and La valla.
  • Miquel Peidro, script coordinator, playwright and novelist, creator and coordinator of series such as El secreto de Puente Viejo, Acacias 38 and La Moderna.
  • Leire Albinarrate, screenwriter and Master in Film and Television Screenwriting at Chapman University (California, USA). She has participated in series such as “Perverso”, “Ángela” and “Trazos Ocultos” and the feature film “El molino”.

The program will also include lectures given by renowned industry professionals and one-to-one meetings with executives from production companies, studios and platforms, offering participants real networking and business development opportunities.

The call for participation, currently open, is aimed at professionals with experience or training in creation, writing, directing or audiovisual production who have a series project in Spanish.

The selection committee chaired by Enrique Darriba, executive producer and coordinator of the Workshop, will choose a maximum of 12 finalist projects, reserving three places for projects presented by CIMA members.

The registration period will close on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. (GMT+2). Once the professional accreditation process has been formalised, the registration of the projects will be carried out through the following link to the Professional Profile.
