Iberseries & Platino Industria, the major international gathering for the Ibero-American audiovisual industry, will host on Thursday, October 1 the presentation of six series projects developed by seven screenwriters as part of its collaboration with Fundación SGAE.
The professional pitch will take place as part of the programme of the sixth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria, which runs from September 29 to October 2, 2026 at Matadero Madrid.
The projects to be presented to producers, buyers, investors and other audiovisual industry professionals are: La librera, by Virginia Burgos and Juan Sánchez; Avión, by Miguel Cavadas; El capricho, by Alberto Grondona; Teléfonos fijos, by Ángel Mirou; La edad menor, by Roberto Osa; and Trueque, by Pedro Pablo Picazo.
The seven screenwriters come to Iberseries & Platino Industria after taking part in Fundación SGAE’s 13th Television Series Creation Lab 2026, held during the first half of the year under the direction of screenwriter Carmen Llano.
A space connecting talent and industry
Fundación SGAE’s participation in Iberseries & Platino Industria offers these creators a professional space in which to give visibility to their projects and establish contact with potential partners, producers, investors and content executives.
The pitch is conceived as an opportunity to foster the production, financing and international reach of new fiction projects, while reinforcing one of the objectives of Iberseries & Platino Industria: to facilitate connections between creative talent and the different players in the Ibero-American audiovisual industry.
This collaboration also helps showcase the work carried out through Fundación SGAE’s training and creation programmes and bring new series projects to an international market specialising in audiovisual content, financing, production and distribution.
About the selected participants
La librera by Virginia Burgos and Juan Sánchez
In the early 1990s, a woman opens the first LGBT bookstore in our country. Over several decades, the business becomes a refuge and a political backroom for an entire community. But the day comes when the neighbourhood she helped build turns its back on her, leaving her no choice but to ask herself: “What do you do when nobody needs you anymore?”
Virginia Burgos (Seville, 1986) holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Seville, a degree in Acting from ESAD Seville and a degree in Playwriting and Stage Direction from RESAD. She has written and directed award-winning short films that have premiered at festivals, including Siete formas de decir adiós, winner of the Carmen Award for Best Fiction Short Film, as well as projects recognised by initiatives such as Cambio de Plano. She combines her work as an audiovisual creator with her work as a psychologist and lecturer on the Screenwriting Master’s programme at TAI School.
Juan Sánchez (Madrid, 1996) holds a degree in Playwriting and Stage Direction from RESAD and is currently studying for the Master’s in Fiction Series Screenwriting at ECAM. He has developed series projects selected for DAMA Ayuda, Fundación SGAE’s Series Creation Lab, IsLABentura Canarias, the Ibero-American Audiovisual Project Development Course and Cambio de Plano. He was also a playwright at Fundación Antonio Gala’s Young Creators Residency.
Avión by Miguel Cavadas
Avión is the village that embodies the utopia of Galician emigration: leaving poor and returning rich. In winter, it is yet another example of rural precarity and ageing. In summer, it becomes a festival of money, ranchera music and Mexican flags. Its population quadruples, returning to celebrate, enjoy themselves and show off the transatlantic feat. A microcosm that is neither here nor there, but the coexistence of two worlds that have little or nothing to do with one another: community and individualism, past and present, Galicia’s lowest pensions and Mexico’s greatest fortunes. What happens when those two worlds collide?
Miguel Cavadas (Vigo, 1996) is a screenwriter, poet and theatre creator. He studied Philology in Santiago de Compostela before moving to the United States on a La Caixa scholarship to pursue an MFA in Screenwriting. There, he joined the writers’ room at Mexican-American production company Elefantec Global. He currently combines literary creation with his career as a freelance screenwriter. His scripts have been selected for labs such as the Paramount Writers Mentoring Program, NALIP’s Emerging Creators Scholarship and AGAPI Impulsa Copros; and his literary work has won competitions including the Mazarelos, Díaz Jácome and Eusebio Lorenzo Baleirón awards. He has just published the poetry collection Himno Nacional (Chan da Pólvora, 2025), and a series for HBO LATAM is currently in development.
El capricho by Alberto Grondona
El capricho is a satirical historical comedy about three women vying for power at the 18th-century Spanish court: Queen María Luisa of Parma, the charismatic Duchess of Alba and the enlightened Duchess of Osuna. Their battles for influence, image and desire, in a Spain on the brink of collapse, are observed and narrated with fierce irony by Francisco de Goya, an uneasy witness who turns palace intrigue into a surprisingly contemporary mirror.
Alberto Grondona (La Laguna, 1973) is a screenwriter and script coordinator with more than 25 years of experience. He has worked on highly successful series such as El tiempo entre costuras, Hospital Central, Las chicas del cable, SKAM and La Promesa, winner of an International Emmy Award in 2024, among others. He specialises in narrative design, the creation of fictional worlds and combining creativity with professional rigour.
Teléfonos fijos by Ángel Mirou
In the modest Recalde neighbourhood of Bilbao, landline phones ring in the early hours, waking those who still have them installed in their homes. When they pick up, residents hear the voices of relatives, friends or acquaintances. The callers have only one thing in common: they are dead. Whether the calls are proof that something exists after death or an elaborate fraud based on cutting-edge technology, the lives of those involved will never be the same again.
Ángel Mirou (A Coruña, 1970) is a screenwriter with more than twenty years of experience writing for theatre, film, television and comics. A graduate in Journalism and Fine Arts, he has taken part in screenwriting labs such as the Mediterranean Film Institute (Greece), the Berlinale Talent Campus and ScriptLab (Colombia).
La edad menor by Roberto Osa
In a dystopian Madrid where children become the legal guardians of their parents, María confronts the system when her mother is admitted to La edad menor, an irreversible process of infantilisation. While her brother is torn between his sister and power, a devastating secret will reveal that neither resistance nor sacrifice is enough to stop oblivion.
Roberto Osa (Cuenca, 1981) is a screenwriter, novelist and director. He has published the novels Morderás el polvo (winner of the Felipe Trigo Award and finalist for the Nadal Prize) and Fallo del sistema. As a playwright, he won the City of Málaga Theatre Award with Correspondencia. He also has extensive experience as an audiovisual director and television screenwriter. He also produced, wrote and directed the European transmedia project Trece días en nuestra nevera, available in five languages. His works have been translated into English, Italian, Romanian, Dutch and Portuguese.
Trueque by Pedro Pablo Picazo
Three families who are very close friends struggle daily with the teenagers at home. Each family has solutions for the others’ children. What if they swap them? What could possibly go wrong?
Pedro Pablo Picazo (Seville, 1974) is a screenwriter, writer and playwright. A graduate of ECAM, he has written series, programmes and documentaries, as well as teaching audiovisual writing. Screenwriter of the feature film Hazlo por mí, winner of Best Screenplay at the Calella Film Festival, he recently wrote and directed the audio fiction Despedida de casada.
